Choosing Joy In Every Season
I can tell we've reached that winter tipping point because it seems like everywhere I go I hear people waxing poetic about spring, summer, and warm, sunny days ahead. Lusting after future seasons - anything to escape the current state of the weather and life. The gray skies, the cold temps, and the abundance of time spent indoors seems to be overflowing into stir-craziness. We're collectively feeling it.

I used to have such an emotional charge around the weather and seasons - but now I try to stay curious and lean into the observations and invitations that only tapping into the present moment can provide. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If I choose to start blaming the weather for how I feel, I'm handing over all of my personal power to external influences, and as a result, greatly diminishing my capacity for joy right here, right now.

If I choose to cultivate joy regardless of what mama nature's brewin' up outside, I'm the creator of my personal reality and I get to tap into a wellspring of happiness and creativity within. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we're constantly hoping, wishing, praying our current circumstances were different - we miss out on the opportunity to actually be open to what's unfolding in our lives right now. We miss the juice.

Also! How freakin' LUSH are seasons?! They're all gorgeous in their own way, and they give us such an incredible amount of contrast to appreciate. If we tap into the energy of the natural cycles and seasons there's so much wisdom to be found (and, in winter, coziness, rest, and reflection). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's about surrendering to nature, flowing with it - instead of resisting and protesting against it. Seeking the crazy amounts of goodness in a less-than-"ideal" weather day or a season that feels like it's overstayed its welcome, and making a point to feel real gratitude, allow it to build resilience, and show ourselves that we're the masters of our own happiness - because it starts from within, always.
