Supercharged Açai Bowl

My usual smoothie-making routine consists of throwing a bunch of fruits and veggies in the blender, scooping about a bazillion (that's a number) herbs and superfoods from various jars and bags (I always thought of this part as a labor of love), and chopping up some tasty treats to pop on top of the finished product for some texture.

This was my routine until the awesome peeps at Organic Living Superfoods told me about their custom smoothie blends - and now I think I'm spoiled for life.  I got to create my own mixture of magic (they have 35+ superfoods to choose from, and use top-of-the-line ingredients), and it's the best thing ever. All I needed was 2 scoops from one bag and I knew my smoothie bowl was packed with nourishing, detoxifying goodness.

I normally reserve my açai bowl obsession for warmer months, but I was way too psyched to dive into my new superfood bag o' tricks to wait for the snow to thaw.  SO, I'm bringin' it to you now!

Before I hop into the recipe, I wanted to give a quick rundown of what's in my custom superfood blend. Each bag holds 10 oz, and you can either pick 10 different superfoods OR double/triple up on some of you want a little extra of any specific ingredients.

You can click on the ingredients below to read more about each of their nutritional benefits, but essentially I wanted to create a blend that was packed with antioxidants, hormone-balancing, anti-inflammatory, digestion-soothing, energy-boosting, and filled any nutritional gaps that I may have.

Okay, recipe time!

INGREDIENTS: (always organic, if possible)

  • ½ banana

  • 1 pack of unsweetened açai (I personally love Sambazon frozen packets)

  • Handful of frozen berries

  • Handful of spinach (or other dark, leafy green)

  • Light coconut milk (about 1/2 cup)

  • Filtered water (about 1/2 cup)

  • 2 tsp of Organic Living Superfoods custom smoothie blend

  • Toppings of your choice

DIRECTIONS:

  • Throw all ingredients into a blender, and blend until smooth

  • Top with whatever makes you happy, i.e. banana, strawberries, blueberries, nuts, granola, chia seeds, etc.
